Name of the scheme : Coaching for Higher Studies
Objectives of the scheme : The objective of the scheme is to provide coaching to students of Tea Tribes’ community for preparing them for various competitive examinations like Civil Services, Medical, Engineering, Staff Selection Committee (Graduate level), Banking (Probationary Officers), etc. so that they are able to compete with other candidates and succeed.
Name of the implementing agency : Directorate of Tea Tribes Welfare, Assam.
Method of Implementation : The Directorate shall call for online applications from eligible candidates belonging to Tea Tribes community for undergoing coaching in reputed institutions. The coaching facilities shall be available for – i). Under Graduate level (i.e., who have completed or are pursuing class-XII and preparing for admissions for medical / engineering); and ii). Graduate level for job opportunities at three levels viz. (a) Civil Services (b) Non Civil Service (officer level) (c) SSC and other assistant level. At least 5 to 6 reputed coaching centers from state and central levels are to be selected and MoUs shall be signed with the centers for allocation of certain no. of seats for candidates of Tea Tribes community. The duration of coaching shall be from 6 months to 1 year. The fees in respect of the coaching for the competitive exams will be funded from the Govt. side as per table mentioned below :

Eligibility Criteria : The criteria for selection of students/candidates shall be as given below:-
a) He/she must be a permanent resident of Assam and must belong to Tea Tribes’ community.
b) The candidate must produce Caste certificate (OBC/ MOBC – TGL/Ex-TGL) which is duly certified by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district or
his designated officer.
c) He/she must produce necessary documents regarding his/her qualifications for undergoing the coaching.
d) For Undergraduate students who are preparing for medical & engineering entrance exams, he/she should be from science stream with Physics, Chemistry & Biology (for medical) or Physics, Chemistry & Maths (for engineering)
e) Candidates must secure the requisite percentage of marks in the qualifying examination prescribed for the desired coaching, based on subject matter and
on the available seats.
f) 30% of the numbers sanctioned for coaching shall be earmarked for girl students & disabled candidates.
g) A candidate who underwent coaching for any exam under financial assistance from this Directorate shall not be eligible for any other coaching in the same
year
