The Government of Assam created Tea Tribes Welfare Department in the year 2004 as Administrative Department vide Notification No.AR.32/2004/34, dated 21-09-2004.People belonging to Tea Tribes communities are spread all over the State of Assam and steps have been taken by the government for achieving socio-economic development of the Tea Tribes people.The Govt of Assam has been implementing various welfare schemes through a separate Directorate, viz.Directorate of Tea Tribes Welfare, Assam since 1983-1984 for speedy implementation of welfare schemes.
